¤· ÀÛ¼º»ùÇÃ

Waveguide bends are widely used in constructing components based on the metallic tube type transmission line. Although the direction of bending can be arbitrary, right angle(90¡Æ) bends in E- or H-plane are most frequently used. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the design of optimum E- and H-plane right-angle bends in the rectangular waveguide. The bend considered in this thesis has an inner corner formed by joining two waveguide walls at right angle and the outer corner with circular, linear, or stepped shape. Dimensions of optimum bends are obtained using a commercial electromagnetic software for the center frequency (corresponding to the smallest reflection coefficient) ranging from from 1.1 to 1.9 times the waveguide cutoff frequency. Designed bends have a low reflection coefficient over the entire operating frequency range of the rectangular waveguide. Theoretical reflection and transmission coefficients of designed bends are presented. Dimensions of optimum bends are given in terms of the waveguide broad wall width so that they can be applied to bends in any standard rectangular waveguide. To verify the accuracy of proposed designs, H-plane stepped and circular bends are fabricated. Measurements of fabricated bends show good agreements with simulation. The fabricated H-plane stepped bend has a reflection coefficient less than -24dB and a transmission coefficient greater than -0.2dB at 30-40GHz. The fabricated H-plane circular bend has a reflection coefficient less than -30dB and a transmission coefficient greater than -0.1dB at 30-40GHz.
