Use CST Studio to analyze a microstrip circuit.

1. Students who know how to use CST studio.

Wu(04-ieee)-microstrip directional coupler

Substrate: dielectric constant = 11.1, thickness = to be determined from the width of the 50-ohm line

Simulation frequency: 1.9-3.9GHz

Port number: from the lower left in CCW direction, 1, 2, 3, 4

1) The above structure with a single 50-ohm line of length 10mm. Lossless case

     Metal = PEC, dielectric: tan¥ä = 0

2) Lossy case

     1) Find the substrate thickness using the microstrip calculator module in CST Studio

     2) Plot the port electric field distribution.

     3) Lossless case

          Plat scattering parameters: mag(S11), mag(S21), phase(S21) (vertical marker at 2.9GHz)

          Find the attenuation coefficient.

          Find the phase constant and the guided wavelength.

          Compare the phase constant with the port analysis.

     4) Lossy case

          Plot scattering parameters: mag(S11), mag(21), phase(S21) (vertical marker at 2.9GHz)

          Find the attenuation coefficient.
